Home Occupations Review

The Town of Milton strives to be a place of possibilities that champions entrepreneurship and small businesses. Nearly 60 per cent of all business in Milton are microbusinesses with a significant portion operating as home-based businesses.

A home occupation is defined as the use of a portion of a residential unit for an occupation or business, which results in a product or service. Under Milton’s Urban Zoning By-law 016-2014 and Rural Zoning By-law 144-2003, home occupations (home-based businesses) are permitted in almost all residential zones but with rules and regulations in place to ensure a lack of disruption to the overall community.

The Town of Milton is in the process of reviewing its policies and regulations regarding home occupations eligibility.
