Milton’s Culture Conversations

Milton is developing its first Culture Plan to make the Town a place where culture and creativity will thrive.

Do you enjoy performing arts, festivals, galleries, public art, local restaurants, nature and Milton’s heritage? Then, we need your input! We want to understand what makes Milton unique. What are the barriers to enjoying culture? What do you feel is missing in Milton and what opportunities should we explore?

Milton's Culture Plan will:

  • Be created in partnership with the community
  • Support our commitment to local culture and recognize its importance to Milton’s vibrant, inclusive and engaged community
  • Provide direction for investment in culture across Milton
  • Provide a framework to promote and integrate new and different cultural experiences

What is culture?

Culture is a difficult concept to define because it means different things to different people. It's so much more than art galleries, theatres, and performances. It includes many aspects of our everyday life, be it taking in an outdoor play, experiencing public art, attending a cultural festival, visiting local restaurants, or stumbling across buskers in a park.

Culture during COVID

We understand that the culture sector has been hit hard due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many galleries, restaurants, live music venues, festivals and events have had to shut their doors or cancel bookings, tours and other cultural offerings. In addition to understanding culture more broadly in Milton, we want to understand how culture-based organizations have shifted.
