Phase 2 Imagine the Possibilities

We've reviewed and analyzed all of the feedback we received from the community visioning and goal setting workshops during Phase 2 of the Culture Plan project. The Milton Culture Plan Phase 2 Summary Report details an overview of Phase 2 engagement, a summary and analysis of the feedback we've received and the refined definition of culture in Milton.

Some key strengths and themes that came out of Phase 2 engagement activities include community pride, diversity of people and culture, small town character, urban and rural spaces and continuous growth of local cultural work and entrepreneurship.

Thank you to everyone who tuned in and participated in the Imagine the Possibilities virtual workshop. In case you missed it, you can watch the event on the Town of Milton's Facebook page.

Why are we creating a Culture Plan?

As Milton evolves, there are other important considerations that make culture planning important at this time. There is growing isolation and mental health concerns in Milton and elsewhere, exacerbated by COVID-19. There are increasing calls to build more equitable, accessible and inclusive spaces and programs. There is opportunity to align the Culture Plan with other major infrastructure projects happening in the Town, through the update to the Official Plan and other projects.

Milton's Culture Plan will make the Town a place where culture and creativity will thrive. It will:

  • Be created in partnership with the community
  • Support our commitment to local culture and recognize its importance to Milton’s vibrant, inclusive and engaged community
  • Provide direction for investment in culture across Milton
  • Provide a framework to promote and integrate new and different cultural experiences
