More family-oriented condos

We need more condos for families (two floors, four bedrooms upstairs and living/kitchen/dining area downstairs) interspersed with lots of parks. Single family homes contribute to urban sprawl and should not be included in any of the new Milton Secondary plans.

More Restaurants

A gravel path running along side each of the proposed rivers and creeks.

It would be absolutely wonderful to have paths like mississauga does with the credit river, and if they can join other with parks,paths and other landscapes It would create a tremendous amount of job growth while preserving the beautiful landscape we have in this community. I Hope this reply is seriously taken. Like I and many others feel that Milton is missing out on something like this. Thank you.

Increased Transit Accessibility

Milton has historically had poor, borderline unusable transit that is frankly a disgrace for the size of city that it is and the city should be deeply ashamed of themselves for allowing a modern, developing city to be built without giving but a second thought to mobility and accessibility. It is frankly appalling that a city of over 100k people that has been built in the 21st century STILL prioritizes private automobiles and urban sprawl over transit oriented developments and more human-scale neighborhoods.

Local Dog Parks

Dog parks in park space, preferably both large and small dog areas.

More mixed housing and protected green space

A sustainable community includes mixed housing (except single family homes, which contribute to urban sprawl and are the least efficient type of housing to heat etc.). This would include condos suitable for larger families (two floors with 4 or 5 bedrooms up and living/kitchen space downstairs). It would also include rent-to-own housing and rent geared to income housing, as the current definition of "affordable housing" is still not affordable for many people. The newer areas need better public transit that goes around the community and not just to the GO station and back (although that is important too). Housing should be built to the best industry standard for energy efficiency. The new developments must include more parkland and more wooded areas-ideally, at least a third of the entire area should be either wooded or open park-like spaces.

Better transit and more paths for walking and biking

This new community needs better transit that runs frequently and on a regular schedule along routes throughout the neighbourhood, as well as to the GO station and back. Paths for biking and walking in addition to sidewalks are important-an example is the path that runs along Thompson Road and then turns west to follow Derry Road. This path is well back from the street and connects several smaller streets as well as schoolyards and parks. These paths should be kept clear of snow and ice in winter. Having lots of parks spread throughout the community provides spaces to socialise and exercise outside.

Older and historic buildings

Older and historic buildings (such as old farmhouses)are preserved and incorporated into the new developments rather than being torn down. There are lots of trees (many more than are in the new developments currently being built, and the very largest trees are preserved and incorporated into the new development. There are lots of parks and at least two off-leash dog parks.
