About the Study

What is it?

Milton has partnered with WSP Canada Group for developing a five year Transit Master Plan for 2019-2023, to be done in 2018/2019. The plan will review and recommend service improvements, introduce new innovative services and implement advanced technologies to support Milton Transit service growth.

Why is Milton doing this Master Plan?

The population is expected to grow from 110,000 currently to 228,000 by 2031. Milton is a place of possibility for residents, businesses, students and visitors. New developments like a university campus, innovation centre and local GO Transit upgrades will change the community landscape. To support these initiatives, Milton Transit will need to grow and adapt.

The Service Review and Master Plan will help prioritize and provide direction over the next five years.

The key objectives of the Transit Master Plan are:

  1. To develop short term, mid-term and long term recommendations for improvements that will result in an improved service delivery and efficiency strategy.
  2. To complete a review of existing transit services, both conventional and specialized, and clarify the Town’s strategic priorities for delivery of services and operations, while focusing on the overall quality, performance and efficiency of transit services and on the role transit plays in Milton.

With population growth projected to 228,000 by 2031 Milton Transit is interested in your opinions and ideas about how we currently deliver transit, and in future years as we continue to grow and develop a complete community. Your input will help us serve your needs and those of your fellow residents to reach school, work, play and leisure destinations.

The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. The feedback from the survey will support the development of a draft 2019-2023 plan, which will define service priorities; available for comment at future public input sessions taking place this winter. The final Service Plan will become an integral part of the budget process to set the stage for transit service delivery across the 5 year plan, and beyond.
