The 2027 Capital and Operating Budget
The Town of Milton strives to foster a vibrant and inclusive community where residents thrive, businesses flourish, and nature is cherished.
Central to achieving this vision are investments in municipal infrastructure and services such as firefighting, snow clearing, road maintenance, and the operation of parks, transit, recreation centres, and libraries.
The Capital and Operating Budget provides for these community investments and reflects Council’s vision for the Town.

The Town of Milton invites residents, businesses, and community groups to share their ideas and priorities for the 2027 Budget.
Each year, the Capital and Operating Budget supports Council’s strategic vision by funding programs, services, and community investments. The 2027 Budget will be informed by Town studies and plans that have been previously approved by Council.
The annual budget process helps Council balance resources to meet the Town’s priorities and deliver services to the community.
Community members can share their input online at Let’s Talk Milton.
Feedback received by Aug. 21 will be included in a Sept. 14 Budget Call Report to Council on anticipated budget pressures. Feedback after Aug. 21 will be shared with Council before consideration of the budget on Jan. 25, 2027.
Key phases of the 2027 budget process:
July-August 2026: Initial public engagement on budget priorities
September 2026: Budget pressures presented to Council
November 2026: Budget Reference Document released
December 2026: Council Workshop
January 2027: Mayor’s Budget released on milton.ca and Council consideration and finalization of the budget
About the budget:
The Capital and Operating Budget represents a continued investment in Milton, aligned with priorities Council developed in the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan.
The capital budget – funded from reserves and reserve funds, development charges, grants, debt, and other revenue sources – covers spending on construction and repair of the Town’s infrastructure including roads, stormwater, parks, facilities and more.
The operating budget – funded from property taxes, user fees, and other revenue sources - covers the cost of day-to-day spending on services such as winter road maintenance, grass cutting, recreation programs, and fire and transit services.
In Milton, property tax bills represent a combination of taxes collected for the Town of Milton, Halton Region, and the Province (school boards).
