Childs Drive

Project details:

• Widen the road to add two left-turn lanes onto Ontario Street South
• Build a 1.5-metre-wide concrete sidewalk (south side, from Ontario Street to Nipissing Road)
• Upgrade 650 metres of wastewater pipes (from Ontario Street to Satok Crescent)
• Widen Ontario Street South to add a northbound right-turn lane onto Childs Drive
• Update the traffic signals at Ontario Street and Childs Drive

Traffic impacts:

• Childs Drive from Nipissing Road to Satok Crescent will be closed to traffic, and open only for local access in the eastbound direction
• Two-way traffic will remain open between Ontario street and Nipissing Road from summer to winter 2026

Work completed to-date (Oct. 28, 2025):

• Preparatory works including pre-construction sewer inspections
• Preparation of shop drawings and commencement of sanitary sewer pipe and manhole manufacturing

Next few weeks:

• Installation of traffic control signage for traffic detour
• Exposing of existing utilities
• Sawcutting of existing asphalt
• Closure of Childs Drive on Nov. 10 from east of Nipissing Road to west of the eastern intersection of Satok Crescent with Childs Drive
• Sanitary Sewer installation in Childs Drive within the road closure
• In advance of the road closure starting Nov. 10, lane restrictions on Childs Drive can be expected
