Shaping the future of Parks and Recreation
The Town of Milton is updating its Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The master plan will act as a roadmap for shaping parks, recreation facilities, and programs throughout the next five years (2026–2031). The plan will be created based on extensive data review, local and broader trends, and input from residents, user groups, stakeholders, and Town Council.
Goals of the plan
The purpose of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan is to:
Identify community priorities for parks and recreation based on input from residents, user groups, Council, and staff.
Serve as a strategic roadmap to guide practical and realistic decision-making to ensure investments in parks, facilities, and programs align with community needs and available resources.
Support community well-being through access to recreation, green space, and inclusive programming.
Make the best use of available resources through thoughtful planning, data analysis, and long-term visioning.
Once complete, the master plan will guide decision-making, help prioritize capital and operating budgets, and address the practical needs of our growing community.
Project Status
The first round of consultation activities occurred from May to July 2025, and the Master Plan is now in development. The draft Parks and Recreation Master Plan is expected to be completed in April, and opportunities for the community to provide feedback on the drafts recommendations will occur in Q2 2026.
